Now that you have the time and money to play, you DO NOT want anything -- especially pain -- to stop you.
Even if you are not yet feeling pain, you may be setting yourself up for it by putting unnecessary stress on your muscles and bones with a poor or overly complicated golf swing.
What to Do to Stop the Pain
If you have chronic pain you should seek medical help. But if the pain is caused by golf, you should probably seek "swing" help.
Often times the pain felt during golf is caused by trying to hit the ball like Arnie or Jack or Tiger -- or even like "We use to hit it." We are not Arnie, not Jack, not Tiger and not, sadly, as young as we use to be. So in order to continue to enjoy the sport we love we need to realize this and adapt our playing style.
The one thing most Senior Golfers need to do to continue to enjoy playing well into their golden years is to simplify their golf swing.
If watching the pros on Sundays is the only "instruction" you have ever had chances are good that you are trying to do a swing that is much too complicated for your skill and age.
Your swing needs to be easy, consistent and, most of all, simple.
Simple is the key. A simplified system is one that you can easily repeat every time. A simple swing creates consistency. If it's too complicated to do or even remember, it won't be consistent.
And trying small corrections, like most pros teach, usually will not work. There's always a little something, a wrist cock here or a club angle there, that may have affected your shot. Fix one -- or a dozen -- and there are still plenty more to mess up.
You need a simple golf swing system with few "moving parts." The less to think about, the less that can go wrong.
