Nike Mens Square Sumo2 Driver Reviewed

I've been a keen amateur golfer for a number of years now and have always played with Ping golf clubs. Over the years I've had several sets of Ping clubs, settling on my current set of Ping G2 irons and G5 woods a couple of years ago. Having played with my clubs for a while now, I have become very attached to them and so it was with a sense of trepidation that I agreed to ditch my trusty Ping G5 driver and replace it for a round with the Nike Square Sumo2 Driver.

The first thing that struck me was the shape of the head - this is no ordinary driver! The head feels, quite franky, massive - and I mean massive and the innovative square head only adds to the feeling that the club head is too big. Nike claim that the new design delivers "the highest MOI in golf" - we'll see!
Off the tee
First shot off the tee and, actually, this club isn't half bad! The ball went a good 250 yards off the tee and straight as a die down the middle of the fairway! And this proved to be the case round most of the rest of the course. The club felt comfortable throughout the game and gave a satisfying metallic sound with every well struck drive. I did find the larger club face to be an advantage as I have a tendency to slightly mis-hit my drives and either slice or draw the ball into the rough on either side of the fairway. With the Sumo2, I hit the fairway in 16 out of 18 holes which for me is a good result.
Did the club help? I really do not know - I would like to take it out again for another couple of rounds, just to make sure that it was the club itself that was helping my game. Would I buy one? Maybe actually - I wouldn't dream of replacing my current Ping driver however when it comes time to maybe replace it, I'd certainly consider the Nike Square Sumo2 Driver as a suitable replacement for my trusty G5 diver.

The advantage to having a large head driver is there is a larger “sweet spot” giving you more area to hit the ball with. With this type of golf club head, the club will be much more forgiving if you miss hit the ball or have a bad shot
