"Advanced Performance you can feel" - Titleist's motto for this new club, and how right they are. Titleist have literally hit the ball out of the park with this new iron. It will literally change your game no matter your handicap. That last phrase "no matter your handicap" is key to this club. If Titleist has had any criticism in the past, it is that Titleist irons were not accessible for the average golfer. But my word have they changed that this year!

Titleist state in their publicity for the Titliest AP1 iron is "for the skilled and aspiring golfer." Where I believe Titleist have departed from their past to satisfy this market is in the design. The state of the art technology available to Titleist has allowed them to produce a multi-material constructed design. By this I mean the body is made of steel, the sole out of tungsten-nickel and the cavity plate out of aluminium. Now you may ask what all these fancy materials actually deliver....they deliver feel. The magical word "feel" that is so elusive to so many golfers. This design allows the average golfer to gain such a feel of his club, unprecedented (I believe) in an average golfers set of irons. The beautiful balance of the design of the club allows consistent performance for those occasional (or regular) shots that come of a bit fat. Okay so they are not some magic club that will cure every miss hit shot we produce, but they will give greater consistency, feedback and performance to the average golfer.
Along with this I also believe the AP1 is a good looking club, okay maybe not the beautiful piece of iron we usually associate with a Titleist club...but nevertheless for a dual-cavity when comparing to its competition, it ranks well. And maybe more importantly for some of us out there, it will still be the envy of your playing partner!
